There will be a room full of them at the Guthrie on October 7th, 2011. Will you be there?
Giant Steps is a day-long interactive event for creative entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial creatives forging their own paths. It brings together a mix of like-minded people from different genres, industries, and disciplines to accelerate individual progress and foster creative collaborations.
The goals for the day are to provide a forum for creative, passionate individuals to:
- get inspired by hearing honest stories from people who make their life and living doing what they love
- connect with like-minded people and with new or potential collaborators
- learn about practical tools and topics necessary for success in creating this kind of life and work.
Sharing lessons and building community.
The day will feature over 30 speakers representing creative entrepreneurs in design, artist activists and educators, technology software entrepreneurs who double as music promoters, chefs, photographers, musicians, consultants, and more. They’ll share their stories of what’s worked and what hasn’t, how they’ve learned to adapt (or bounce back), and how they approach decisions about the ideas and possibilities they see for the future and they’ll answer your questions.
This year’s event will feature a mix of new and returning speakers—including acclaimed photographer Wing Young Huie, designer and entrepreneur Robyne Robinson, Blu Dot COO Maurice Blanks, hip-hop and spoken word artist Desdamona, DemandQuest founder Ted Kozlowski, playwright and performance artist May Lee-Yang, and many more.
There will also be workshops and panels to help you acquire the practical information you need to add great value to your work–from information about funding for creative projects and ventures, to discussions on more effective ways to promote and market your work, to legal and tax-related solutions.
You will want to be a part of Giant Steps if you are looking to advance your thinking, connect with other creative thinkers and potential collaborators, and enhance your skills to move your work forward.
