Tomorrow, November 16, is the Give to the Max Day – the Great Minnesota Give Together.
It is the day for Minnesotans to come together to raise as much money as possible for nonprofits in 24 hours.
If you have found your way to this blog, you are already an engaged leader in the Twin Cities. And my guess is that your email inbox has already exploded with emails from nonprofits asking you to Give to the Max! You probably already know why giving on November 16 is such a great deal:
- You can win a “Golden Ticket” and add $1000 to your donation (or the Super Size Golden Ticket for $10,000!)
- You can double your dollars by leveraging over $4M in matching funds secured by nonprofits
- You can help your chosen nonprofits or alma mater land on the leader board and win prize grants
But you’re a community leader, you already knew that. You serve on nonprofit boards, you’re active alumni, you care about your community. And tomorrow we need you more than ever. One of the greatest values of Give to the Max Day is to expand the audiences for charitable giving. To find people who aren’t normally asked to make charitable contributions and ask – will you give?
So I ask you, please take a few minutes to look through your contacts and think about who you know who isn’t getting inundated with Give to the Max Day emails. Your dentist? Your hairdresser? Your neighbors? Forward them the Give to the Max Day PSA and let Lindsay Whalen, Garrison Keillor, and Owl City ask them to give. And consider these ideas:
- Take a few minutes to walk around your office or neighborhood and ask people if they have heard of Give to the Max Day and explain why it’s a great day to give.
- Do you have a meeting, event or gathering on Wednesday, November 16? Start with a quick announcement that today is Give to the Max Day and encourage people to participate.
- And of course…. GIVE to your favorite nonprofits and then tweet and post updates on Facebook throughout the day.
Remember, it is easy and secure to give on GiveMN.org – on a computer or mobile device. GiveMN stores all of your online giving in one convenient location so when it’s tax time, you have all of your receipts in one place.
Thank you for helping with this historic event. Together we have the power to raise millions of dollars for Minnesota nonprofits in one day.
